Bird Survey
BIRDS of NEWTOWN
A comprehensive survey of birds along the river was conducted at several sites to try to identify all species present in Newtown, both residents and visitors. Along with anecdotal sitings we've listed a total of 67 species that have been spotted at various sites on or near the river. These are:
Blackbird, Barn Owl, Black Headed Gull, Blackcap, Blue tit, Bullfinch, Buzzard, Canada Goose, Carrion Crow, Chaffinch, Chiffchaff, Coal tit, Collared Dove, Common Gull, Common Sandpiper, Cormorant, Dipper, Dunnock, Feral Pigeon, Garden Warbler, Gold Crest, Goldfinch, Goosander, Great spotted Woodpecker, Great tit, Greenfinch, Grey Heron, Grey Wagtail, Herring Gull, House martin, House Sparrow, Jackdaws, Jay, Kingfisher, Lesser Blackback Gull, Little Grebe, Longtailed Tit, Magpie, Mallard, Mistle Thrust, Moorhen, Mute Swan, Nuthatch, Peregrine Falcon, Pheasant, Pied Wagtail, Raven, Red Kite, Redpoll, Redwing, Robin, Sand Martin, Siskin, Song Thrush, Sparrow hawk, Spotted Flycatcher, Starling, Swallow, Swift, Tawney Owl, Thrush, Treecreeper, Wood Pigeon, Waxwing, Willow Warbler, Wren, Yellow Wagtail
